Description

Fluffy, golden, and sweet, this classic French Toast Recipe is the ultimate comfort breakfast. Made with simple pantry staples, it’s quick, easy, and endlessly customizable.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices of thick bread (brioche, challah, or Texas toast)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk (or half-and-half)
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp butter (for frying)
  • Optional toppings: maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh berries

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla until well combined.
  • Pour the custard mixture into a shallow dish.
  • Dip each bread slice into the mixture, soaking both sides for about 20 seconds.
  • Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt butter.
  • Cook soaked bread slices 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown.
  • Serve warm with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • Stale bread works best for soaking without falling apart.
  • Adjust cinnamon or sugar to your liking.
  • Keep cooked slices warm in a low oven while finishing the rest.
