Description
These healthy air fryer churro bites are crispy on the outside, soft inside, and coated in warm cinnamon sugar. A lighter version of the classic churro, made without deep-frying, and ready in under 20 minutes!
Ingredients

- 1 cup all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp sugar (or coconut sugar/monk fruit)
- 1 egg (or flax egg for vegan)
- ⅓ cup unsweetened applesauce (or Greek yogurt)
- ¼ cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- Olive oil spray (for air fryer basket)
Cinnamon Sugar Coating:
- ¼ cup sugar (or monk fruit sweetener)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat Air Fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and sugar.
- In another bowl, whisk egg, applesauce, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix into a soft dough.
- Roll dough into small bite-sized balls (about 1 tablespoon each).
- Spray the air fryer basket with olive oil. Place dough balls in a single layer.
- Air fry for 7–8 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown.
- While warm, toss churro bites in cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Serve immediately with chocolate or caramel dipping sauce.
Notes
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket—cook in batches.
- Use parchment liners for easier cleanup.
- For extra crispy bites, spray lightly with oil before air frying.
- Best enjoyed warm and fresh!
